Sympathetic Explosion
Series of digitally manipulated photographs of firework boxes
This series is my heartfelt response to the shocking find of an 'Atomic Blast' firework amongst the other firework boxes left littering the dismantled nuclear bunker where they had been launched on Fireworks Night. A readymade analogy for the peculiar relationship this small town has to its gigantic munitions industry and history, which is stunning for visitors but normality for residents.
Sympathetic Explosion is named after a technical term used in a local, disused gunpowder factory, which describes one fire/explosion igniting subsequent explosions.
